Plant a Tree on your Birthday in The Piney Woods Forests, Texas

MyBirthdaytree Planting Project is in the Piney Woods Forests surrounding San Augustine in Eastern Texas

We need your help to plant 350,000 trees in The Piney Woods Forests, Texas.

Project Description

America’s forests are in peril. More than one million acres of National Forests need reforestation. When wildfire or insects harm our forests, we’re left with degraded watersheds, impaired wildlife habitat and aesthetic scars that last for generations.

With your help, not only will we plant trees, we’ll restore watershed health, improve wildlife habitat and ensure our forests are beautiful and resilient for centuries to come. Participation is simple – for just $1, you, your friends, and family can plant a tree on National Forests.

Our Tree Planting Project is in the Piney Woods Forests surrounding San Augustine in Eastern Texas.

This tree planting project will help restore the once dominant longleaf pine forests which covered over 90 million acres from Virginia to Texas. This species abundance has decreased dramatically over time due to non-sustainable timber harvest and clearing of land for agriculture and development.

The longleaf pine ecosystem is well known for incredible diversity of plant and animal species that it supports, many of which are endemic only to this habitat. Our tree planting project will restore critical watersheds and rebuild important wildlife habitats, including rare species like the red-cockaded woodpecker, and will ultimately help combat climate change and global warming.

Among an assortment of interesting critters, a few include the elusive bobcat, the tree-climbing gray fox, and the cavity-building endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. East Texas is also a part of the central flyway bird migration route, providing important stopover habitat for many neotropical birds to roost and feed during their long journey.

Join our Reforestation program by donating to plant trees where they are needed most.

Please understand that this is the general area of the tree planting. Your tree will be planted among thousands of other birthday trees and there is no plaque designating the tree and visiting your particular tree is unfortunately not possible.

Know that the tree planting project is making a monumental difference for the earth and opening a new doorway to the world for future generations. If you have any questions, please view our contact information at: www.mybirthdaytree.org/contact-us
